Last summer I tried the Downy Dunk on Samantha, and, well, it didn't work very well, but I was too embarrased then to say anything.

Now one of the girls that came to my tea party has a Molly badly in need of a dunk. I am ready to try it again, but first I need some help!

Could those of you who have succeeded, tell me exactly what you did, the exact products (what kind of Downy and especially what steamer and where to get it)? I used the Downy Dunk album last time, and I think I just need a little more additional info and advice. Thanks so much!!!

My steamer is a ConAir model. It sells for $20 at K-Mart. I've also heard that Wal-Mart carries it. It's also got a garment brush attachment that I used when steaming.

I've steamed the hair of many of my dolls with no ill results. It's really great for getting out the frizzies. Since then, I've heard steaming can be hard on their hair, so I'd do it only once in a blue moon.

Do you always do the Downy dunk before steaming, or do you steam alone? Does that make a big difference in itself?

Downy dunk for a few hours. Then comb through with metal comb. Then steam.

Yeah, what she said. LOL! Let the hair dry fully before steaming for maximum effect.

You're supposed to rinse it well, right? Or no?

I am in the middle of redunking Lindsey. Her hair still seemed dry at the tips around the face. I also didn't wait long enough before I took her rollers out the last time, plus I think I am rollering-impaired.

My current plan is this... Lindsey went in at 6:30 or so this evening. I ran her hair in really, really hot water before putting her in the Downey. I was going to rinse her in 24-48 hours; her first dunk was 3 hours. Then steam. Then I am going to roll her hair and leave it for no less than 4 days; the last time I did 2 days.

Does anyone have any tips or improvements for my plan? Is there anything I should do while she's in rollers?

I just dressed Kit, Molly, Ruthie and Marisol in some pretty Valentine's dresses. Lindsey will need to join them, but not with her hair all flat. The dress I got for Marisol (handmade from eBay-- no time to make my own) has a cute headband with it, but I just could not take her hair out of the pony tails. It looks so cute and the pink bands still match. I don't want to mess her beautiful hair up!
